In 2011, Hannes started the Tumblr blog: Ugly Belgian Houses. He shared the craziest, or in his words "the ugliest", houses he came across. He got a lot of positive responses, but also a dose of negative comments. In a short time, he built a large community from all over the world. First on Tumblr, now also on Instagram and other social media channels.
Hannes filled two coffee table books with Ugly Belgian Houses and made a TV show for Iedereen Beroemd op één in which he apologizes to some of the home owners for showing their ugly houses on his blog.
